TRIESTE
Trieste is a city and port in northeastern Italy right on the border with Slovenia. Historically and culturally an international city, Trieste offers visitors a magic moment. The heart and the oldest part of the city was situated on San Giusto hill, and from here one can still admire today many of its sites: the Castle, the Forense Basilica ruins and the Roman Theatre. With the reclamation of many waterways and the destruction of the medieval wall Queen Maria Teresa of Austria transformed Trieste into one of Europe's most important ports. The sights in Trieste include numerous examples of Art Nouveau and neoclassical architecture from its Austrian past, and Razionalismo from the fascist era.

AQUILEIA
Aquileia, one of the most interesting archeological sites in Italy, is located in the southern part of the Friulian plain, close to the wide Lagoon of Grado. From the Augustian Age onwards , the town became an important center of commercial exchanges between the Danubian regions and the Mediterranean basin, thanks to its favourable geographic location. The population living within the boundary walls was cosmopolitan and it is presumed to have come to 100,000 inhabitants by the end of the Imperial era; as a matter of fact Aquileia was considered on of the largest cities of the Roman Empire. The archaeological remains easily found everywhere, bear witness of its illustrious past.

GRADO
Grado and the Lagoon are an original landscape, artistic and anthropological microcosm within the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia. The isle of Grado was the first port for the ancient navigators who coming from the Adriatic sea used to sail up the lagoon and then the river Natissa till Aquileia. Grado was already famous and Venice didn’t exist yet. With over 12 thousands hectares land and 25 kilometres coastline the lagoon of Grado extends towards west as far as the lagoon of Marano and is the most beautiful in the whole Mediterranean. A tangle of canals and valleys, among the slimes, covered with reeds and bushes. A place of no time, reign of the water, wind and silence.

GROTTA GIGANTE
The Giant cave is the biggest tourist cave in the world and has been opened to the public since 1908. The enormous hall is 107 metres high, 280 metres long and 65 metres large putting it in the Guinness Book of Records. A confortable and steep path and a suggestive electric lighting allew a pleasant visit. The tourist can have a look at the wonderful and charming underground world represented by the caves and at the rich calcite concretions, the highest of which is no less than 12 metres high. The cave contains many large stalactites and stalagmites many of exceptional beauty. A feature of the stalagmites is their "dish-pile" appearance, formed by water dropping from up to 80 meters above.
